What is reiki healing?Reiki healing is a hands-on Japanese form of energy healing that works holistically on the whole body, mind and spirit to promote balance. When channelled it enters your body from the crown and flows through your entire being. It is channelled with divine intelligence with the intention of providing healing energy where it is needed for your best and highest good, stimulating your body’s healing abilities.
-
Is reiki healing effective?Reiki is simply a relaxing treatment whereas natural healing vibrations are transmitted through the hands of a Reiki practitioner (acting as a conduit) to the body of the recipient. The purpose of a Reiki treatment is to relieve stress and pain, induce relaxation, release emotional blockages, accelerate natural healing. Reiki is effective for restoring balance, which can show up in a few ways, depending on the current need of the individual.

What happens during a reiki healing?A typical reiki session lasts between 20 and 90 minutes. At your healing, we will commence with a short introduction and chat about the process and your expectations or intentions. I will inquire about any symptoms you want addressed or if there are places in the body on which you’d like me to focus, and any injuries or places that are sensitive to touch. The client lies on the reiki charged healing table and will be covered with a blanket. I will take you into a deep relaxation with angelic 528hz healing tone music playing in the background. For the most part there won’t be any talking during the session, but you can feel free to let me know if there’s something you need to feel more comfortable or to share what you’re experiencing. I will move my hands around your body, touching you lightly or have my hands just above your body, over specific areas of the head, limbs, and torso using different hand shapes, for between 2 and 5 minutes. The hands can be placed over 20 different areas of the body. You may experience sensations in the body such as heat or tingling. Some people report seeing visualizations such as colours or pictures, or having memories appear. Try to allow whatever arises to pass without attaching too much meaning to it. Your experiences may become deeper the more you continue with reiki. These vary from person to person because everyone experiences Reiki differently and no two Reiki treatments are ever the same.

How does reiki healing work?Reiki assists in the body’s natural healing processes, and develops emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. It is also said to induce deep relaxation, help people cope with difficulties, relieve emotional stress, and improve overall well being. People who receive Reiki describe it as “intensely relaxing.” The spiritual healing art of Reiki works by channelling positive energy into your body, with Reiki Masters and practitioners placing their hands on the affected areas of the body that need a boost, offering this energy and your body takes in the energy where it is most needed. This powerful flow of positive energy may bring a near immediate sensation of relief as it releases tension, lessens the impact of stress and replaces negative energy with the positive. Some refer to this positive Reiki energy as the life force, and indeed it can bring new life to a stressed-out, tired body.

How are crystals used in reiki?Crystals add an extra element of healing to the treatment by helping to release emotional, mental, or spiritual blocks. Crystals are placed on or around your body or you may be asked to hold a crystal. Crystals are placed at specific energy points on your body to enhance their energy flow and potency. Specific crystals are chosen for their unique healing properties. The colour and healing attributes of individual crystals and correct crystal placement can achieve profound healing results on all levels. Reiki healing activates and directs the healing energy of the crystals to clear blockages, bringing balance and alignment on all levels; emotional, mental, spiritual and physical.

What are the benefits of a reiki healing?Aligns, clears and balances chakra centres (we focus on the seven major energy centres), alleviates associated pain, promotes relaxation and balance, releases energy blockages, lower vibrating energy (also called negative energy), plus toxins or impurities, relieves stress and supports and activates your body's natural ability to heal itself.
-
Is reiki healing safe?Reiki is non-invasive. It doesn’t have any known harmful side effects. Reiki is not intended to replace any doctor-approved treatment plan.
-
How long does reiki healing last?Depending on why you make time for a Reiki healing you may need one session or a series of sessions. I guide you on this after your first session. Allowing at least two to three weeks in between each of your Reiki healings creates space for you to process the treatment consciously and subconsciously. Reiki continues to work through you after the treatment session. The wonderful effects of the treatment continue to integrate into your being days after your session.
-
Can reiki healing be done from a distance?Healing energies originate and travel outside the space/time framework of the physical, so they are not limited by distance or time. Distant Reiki Healing is equally effective as in-person healing as I work with your physical, emotional, and mental aspects by accessing your Spirit and energy body (made up of your aura, chakras, and meridians). The power of distant healing equals that of hands-on energy treatments. A distant Reiki healing is so informative and moderately intense; ideal for if you are looking to unblock, to feel inspired and rejuvenated, to better listen to your body, and to understand what is going on energetically.

Can anyone do reiki healing? The ability to learn Reiki is not dependent on intellectual capacity, nor does one have to be able to meditate. There are four degrees of Reiki, with the energy and knowledge being passed down from Reiki master to student via an attunement. The newly attuned practitioner acts as a vessel for Reiki to help heal themselves and others. Daily hands-on Reiki self-treatment remains the foundation at all levels of practice.
-
Where did reiki healing originate from? The predominant form of reiki practiced throughout the world today, also known as Usui Reiki. Dr. Mikao Usui developed Reiki in the early-twentieth century Japan, where he said he received the ability of “healing without depletion” after three weeks of fasting and meditating on Mount Kurama.

How do you prepare for your reiki healing?Prior to your healing, to get the most out of your healing, we discuss setting your intention. What you would most like us to work on? What would you like to release? What would you like to bring in its place? Wear clean, loose-fitting, comfortable clothing. You may wish to wear natural fabrics such as cotton, linen, or silk. Remove your shoes, jewellery, and glasses before your session, and keep your phone switched off, do not disturb mode or leave it behind.
-
What to expect after your reiki healing? After a healing session, there may be a physical detoxification process that can continue for up to a week. Drink plenty of water to help flush toxins from your body, plus help to conduct your body's energy flow. Some people feel calm, peaceful, or energized. You may also feel tired. Be aware of your body, thoughts and feelings, acknowledge and accept and release anything that comes up for you. Change can be a challenge, but your transformation is a change for the better. For self-care - Drink at least six to eight glasses of water per day, eat nourishing foods, avoid over consumption of stimulants such as coffee/tea/soft drinks containing caffeine or alcohol, increase alone time in order to separate your energy from others, increase rest time, relax - just enjoy and be good to yourself (listen to soothing music, take a relaxing magnesium bath, read, walking, , massage, swimming, connect nature).
